Jack Balthasar
About Me
I’m Jack Balthasar, a PhD student at the University of Alabama specializing in underwater robotics. My work combines robotics, hardware development, sensing, simulation, computer vision, and machine learning to solve complex problems in aquatic environments. I’m driven by a simple goal: to build practical technology that creates a meaningful, lasting impact.
Alongside my research, I work part-time with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), where I gain hands-on field experience at the intersection of water science and technology. This combination of research, engineering, and real-world application has shaped me into a resourceful engineer who is comfortable taking ideas from early concepts to working systems.
